This Sebamed baby cream's claims about key ingredients and 'free-from' status are directly contradicted by its own ingredient list, creating significant consumer confusion despite some clinical backing for general hydration.
₹999 • Analysed 14 October 2026
This Sebamed Baby Protective Facial Cream is positioned as a premium baby care product in India, reflected in its price point of ~₹1000 for 50ml. While it claims to be 'Ideal For Salivary Rashes' and 'Clinically proven' for barrier function, the brand's claims regarding key ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Squalene, Panthenol, and Vitamin E are directly contradicted by the product's INCI list. Furthermore, the 'Paraffin-free' and 'Non-occlusive' claims are false as Paraffinum Liquidum is present high in the ingredient list, raising significant ASCI compliance concerns regarding truthful advertising and ingredient transparency for the Indian consumer.
Independent and free. The Clean Sheet takes no money from brands to review, rank, or approve a product. This is a web evidence review, not a Clean Sheet certification. We checked the ingredient list, publicly available test reports, marketing claims, and formula logic using only public information available at the time of review.
pH is a fundamental characteristic of the formula, consistent with Sebamed's brand identity.
Product is formulated and marketed for babies.
Contains soothing ingredients like Allantoin and Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract. However, the claimed Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), also noted for soothing, is absent from the INCI.
Hyaluronic acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) and Squalene (Squalane) are explicitly claimed but are NOT found in the retrieved INCI list.
Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) and Vitamin E (Tocopherol) are explicitly claimed but are NOT found in the retrieved INCI list. Lipid compounds (Paraffinum Liquidum, Decyl Oleate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride) are present.
Subjective claim. While it's an oil-in-water emulsion, Paraffinum Liquidum is high in the INCI, which can feel occlusive or slightly greasy to some, potentially contradicting the 'non-greasy' claim for all users.
The INCI list explicitly contains 'Paraffinum Liquidum', directly contradicting the 'free from Paraffin' claim. Parabens, Formaldehyde releasers, and Dioxane (as an ingredient) are not found in the INCI.
Verified by 'Country of Origin: Germany' and manufacturer details on the product page.
